Copilot Just Leveled Up: Free Voice and Deep Thinking for Everyone

If you’ve been using Copilot like I have—for quick answers, brainstorming ideas, or just organizing your thoughts—you’re going to love what’s rolling out next. Microsoft is now offering free, unlimited access to Copilot’s best features, including Voice and Think Deeper (which makes use of OpenAI’s o1 model). That means more ways to interact, more room to explore complex questions, and no more worrying about hitting usage limits.

What precisely is Copilot?

Consider it your digital assistant with extra power, integrated with Microsoft products. Copilot helps you to do things easier. It can assist you in writing, mathematical concepts, email reading, and planning. You can communicate your needs to it or ask it questions. It’s similar like having an intelligent, helpful assistant by your side at all times.

What’s New?

For starters, Voice is now available to all Copilot users without restrictions. You can actually have a real conversation with Copilot—whether you’re brushing up on a new language, cooking dinner hands-free, or prepping for a job interview. Just talk, and it talks back.

Then there’s Think Deeper, which is great for tackling those trickier, more layered questions—the kind that go beyond simple answers. It taps into more advanced reasoning to help you break down big decisions or figure things out step by step.

Why This Matters?

The timing of this update couldn’t have been more appropriate, to be honest.  I am aware that many people, including myself, were beginning to feel discomfort of usage restrictions. Now, that stress is gone. When you need them, Voice and Think Deeper are available for free and without limits, whether you’re organizing a large project or simply want to brainstorm.

And now is the ideal moment to try one of these if you haven’t before.

A Few Ideas to Try

Need some inspiration? Here are a few things I’ve tried—or plan to:

  • Learning on the Go: I used Voice to practice a few key phrases before a recent trip. It felt super natural and helped a ton with confidence.
  • Mock Interview Help: Just told Copilot about the job I’m applying for and my past experience. It asked me smart questions and gave tips to help me answer better.
  • Cooking Helper: I used Voice while making food. It read the recipe out loud, so I didn’t have to touch my phone with messy hands.

For more complex stuff, Think Deeper really shines. Here are a few ideas which are worth experimenting:

  • “Compare the best electric cars. I care about design, comfort, and I want it to feel future-proof. Can you create a custom scoring system for me?”
  • “I will be able to spend about five hundred dollars on makeup. Is it better to spend money on skincare products, improve my concealer and foundation, or buy expensive eye and lip items? What is the best strategy for creating a routine that is both durable and adaptable?”
  • My home has frequent plumbing issues. Should I invest in a full pipe replacement or just keep fixing things as they break? Walk me through the pros, cons, cost, and how much each option might be.”

A Quick Heads-Up

You may occasionally experience slowdowns due to the popularity of these functions, particularly during peak hours or if there are security flags. However, Microsoft is working to quickly scale this up so that more people may benefit from it as easily as possible.

As a Copilot Pro customer, you will continue to receive tighter integration with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, priority access during peak times, and early access to experimental products (stay tuned!). This feels like such a wonderful advancement for users.

With these new tools, Copilot is becoming a really helpful buddy you can use every day. It’s made to fit into your life and make things a bit easier. Try it out—you might be surprised how simple and useful it is to have around.
